That confidence is real, but it doesn\u2019t mean the journey is always easy\u2014about 40% of homeowners still reported living paycheck to paycheck, while that number jumps to just over 60% for nonowners. The real advantage comes over time: homeownership is often a path to building equity and broader wealth, not just managing a monthly payment. In fact, research linked buying a home by age 30 with a 23% higher net worth by age 50, or roughly $119,000 more. Of course, it\u2019s important not to stretch too far\u2014housing costs in the 30% to 40% range can limit your ability to save for other priorities.
